Neurodiversity Training for Educational and Community Settings
Neurodiversity affirming learning environments start from a simple idea: there’s no right or wrong kind of brain. Every brain works a little differently, and those differences are worth understanding, valuing and celebrating.
We also know the reality: for many neurodivergent learners, every day can be a challenge. Many spend the school day masking, coping with sensory overload, or working twice as hard at tasks that don’t suit the way they learn. Over time, this can lead to anxiety, burnout, school refusal and a belief that something is wrong with them. Being neuroaffirming means taking these struggles seriously, while recognising that many of them come from a mismatch between the learner and their environment, not from the learner themselves.
When learners can’t access simple accommodations, they can miss out on reaching their potential. We want to create learning environments where all learners can finally realise their self-worth. Where:
And as regulation is the foundation for all learning, learners have the best chance to flourish.
It’s time to stop trying to change how neurodivergent learners are wired, and start changing the environments around them. Small, practical steps can make a big impact.
